Safeguarding

Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility.

At Gainsborough Children’s Centre, safeguarding is part of everything we do. Our staff are trained to recognise concerns about children and families and know how to respond when someone may need additional help or protection.

We work closely with parents and carers and with other professionals, including health, education and family support services. Where families need additional help, we will try to work with them to find the right support as early as possible.

Sometimes families need help with things such as parenting, behaviour, housing, finances, relationships, domestic abuse, mental health or a child’s development. Hackney’s family support services recognise that getting help early can make a real difference to families.

If you have a concern about a child, or something is happening at home that you are worried about, please speak to a member of the Children’s Centre team. We will listen and help you work out what to do next.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Hackney also provides access to its Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) for safeguarding concerns.

Charlotte Harris is the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
