School Food Strategy

Our Food Strategy – Growing, Cooking, Eating and Learning Together

At Gainsborough, we believe food is about much more than what is on our plates. It is an opportunity to nurture healthy, confident and curious learners, develop lifelong skills, celebrate diversity and care for our planet.

Our Whole School Food Strategy 2026–2027 brings together four key areas: food provision, food education, food culture and community, all underpinned by our commitment to sustainability.

From growing fresh produce in our gardens and learning to cook nutritious meals, to exploring new tastes, reducing food waste and bringing families together through food, we want every child to experience the full journey from grow to cook to eat.

Through our kitchens, curriculum, gardens and community partnerships, we are creating an inclusive and sustainable food culture that promotes wellbeing, strengthens learning and empowers children to make positive choices for life.
