It is my great privilege, as Executive Headteacher, to welcome you to Gainsborough — a community that encompasses our Preschool, Children’s Centre, Primary School and specialist ARP provision.
Gainsborough is a very special place. Our journey has been shaped by the children and families we serve, and we are immensely proud that our provision has continued to grow and evolve in response to our community. From a child’s earliest experiences with us, through their primary education and specialist provision, our ambition is simple: to know every child well, meet them where they are, and help them become everything they are capable of being.
Our strapline, “Excellence in everything, always striving,” captures the culture we want for every child and adult at Gainsborough. Excellence does not mean expecting every child to be the same. It means holding high expectations, providing exceptional care and creating the right conditions for every child to succeed. We believe deeply in academic rigour, but equally in curiosity, creativity, communication, belonging and character. We want our children to leave us knowledgeable and articulate, with the confidence to think, question, contribute and make a difference.
Our curriculum reflects the community and world our children are growing up in. It is deliberately rooted in diversity, sustainability and oracy, ensuring that children encounter different voices, cultures, histories and perspectives while developing the language to express their own ideas confidently. We want children to understand their responsibility to one another and to the planet, and to recognise that their voice matters.
Care sits at the heart of this ambition. Our Gainsborough Keeps — Keep Kind, Keep Connected, Keep Safe, Keep Healthy, Keep Green and Keep Giving — are much more than words. They shape how we learn, how we treat one another and how we contribute to our community. They remind us that achievement and kindness belong together and that education is about developing the whole child.
We are particularly proud of our inclusive approach. At Gainsborough, inclusion is not something added to our provision; it is the foundation on which our provision is built. Our Preschool, Children’s Centre, Primary School and ARP enable us to support children and families with a wide range of strengths, experiences and needs. We adapt our environment, our teaching and our support because children should not have to fit a system before they can thrive within it.
None of this happens in isolation. Gainsborough benefits from an incredible community of families, staff, governors, local organisations and partners who share our belief in what children deserve. These partnerships have enabled us to think differently, create opportunities and develop a distinctive offer that reflects the community we are proud to serve.
Our journey continues. We will keep listening, learning, adapting and striving. We will celebrate what makes our community unique while remaining ambitious about what comes next.
